About the Small Business Network
An Australian community organisation created to help remove challenges for small businesses.
For small businesses to thrive, and for their owners to thrive, it’s imperative that the major challenges owners face every day, those where they can effect change, are eliminated.
There will always be regulatory, red tape and other external factors, like interest rates or energy prices, that will remain outwith the control of business owners, and for those we will join others in lobbying for better environments and conditions for small businesses, but for those factors that business owners can control, those are the areas where the Small Business Network seeks to directly assist owners.
Isolation, lack of clear direction, financial uncertainty, information overload, skills gaps, time poverty, and a lack of simple guidance and advice, these are the areas where the Network will provide support.
The Story of Small Business Network
The Small Business Network is the brainchild and creation of Enterprise Plus, a Not-for-profit organisation founded in Queanbeyan, NSW, in 1987, working alongside other similar organisations across Australia.
Originally, Enterprise Plus was called the Queanbeyan Enterprise Centre and was a part of the national Business Enterprise Centres network.
Over the years, it expanded through mergers with other Business Enterprise Centres to cover the whole of the southern part of NSW, the ACT as well as the Northern Region of NSW from Port Macquarie to the Tweed Shire and inland through Armidale and beyond.
Since its inception, the organisation has delivered advisory services for small businesses, funded throughout by grants or the delivery of government programs, at different times including all three different levels of government.
Small-business support and advice are in our DNA. That’s why we created a new network dedicated to supporting small businesses across Australia, helping to remove the everyday challenges faced by small business owners and giving them access to practical support, guidance and community.
Free Membership for Small Businesses
Whilst many small businesses in Australia are thriving, we know that there are many for whom keeping the wolves from the door is a daily challenge.
For this reason, membership of the Small Business Network is FREE for ALL small businesses.
As a Not-For-Profit organisation, we are not driven by delivering profits to shareholders or directors, rather we are driven by our mission and our vision.
When small businesses thrive, local communities thrive. When local communities thrive, then Australia thrives.
A FREE membership entitles all members to access all the articles, guidance, tools and other resources on the website, including webinars and videos.
These resources will continue to grow every month, meaning that membership will continue to deliver benefits to members from the day they join and indefinitely into the future.
Reduced cost access to additional services and support
For those members who need more specific guidance and advice outside of what is available for FREE, we will be offering some paid services, but at costs substantially lower that what is typically offered by commercial organisations that are focussed on profits.
By providing access to the Business Enterprise Centre network of organisations, organisations that like us are all Not For Profit companies, we will ensure that when members do want to work with an experienced expert, they know they are doing that in the most cost-effective way possible. Whilst still receiving expert advice from professional advisors.
Likewise, when we offer online seminars or courses that we need to charge small fees for, members will know that these will deliver effective solutions, guidance or skills for business owners, but at affordable prices.
