Summary: ASIC’s latest corporate insolvency update says 12,819 companies entered external administration in the first 11 months of 2025–26. The most common industries were construction, accommodation and food services, other services, retail trade, and professional, scientific and technical services.

Why it matters: The data points to continuing pressure in sectors with high labour, rent, materials and debt-servicing costs. It also highlights the need for close monitoring of customers, suppliers and subcontractors.

Who is affected: Construction firms, hospitality operators, retailers, professional services firms and businesses exposed to trade credit risk.
